New Research Reveals Wide Gap between Perception and Reality of Perimeter Security Effectiveness
Gemalto recently released the latest findings of the 2015 Data Security Confidence Index (DSCI). The report reveals a widening gap emerging between the perception and the reality of perimeter security effectiveness amongst global IT decision makers. The research shows increasing levels of investment in this area of data protection, despite an exponential growth in the number of data breaches.
Authentication Updates and Releases
SafeNet Authentication Service PCE/SPE v3.4
We are excited to let you know that SafeNet Authentication Service Private Cloud Edition and Service Provider Edition Version 3.4 will be available for download from the SafeNet Support Portal (DOW3646) from 21th April 2015.
This release includes core capabilities that were previously released with SafeNet Authentication Service Cloud Edition versions 3.3.3 and 3.4.
- Differential Synchronization: Synchronization of SAS user data has been enhanced so that only changed user records are synchronized, resulting in less network traffic and reduced sync time. Reduced system load also increases the reliability of sync services. This requires using SAS Synchronization Agent version 3.4, which is packaged with this release.
- Synchronizing LDAP Nested Groups: Included SAS Synchronization Agent has been enhanced to allow syncing of LDAP users from nested groups, where users may be members of a group that is a member of another group.
- Support for French Language: Operators can choose to use the Administration Console in French, and pre-defined French language settings are available for the Self-Service Portal.
- Enhancements to Provisioning and Self-Enrollment: Provisioning reminders can be automatically sent to users before expiration of their provisioning task, and operators can resend token provisioning tasks to alternate email addresses.
- External RADIUS Attribute Pass-Through: When authenticating RADIUS tokens, RADIUS attributes are passed back to the RADIUS client that were received from an external RADIUS server. This functionality can be useful with migrations from other vendors’ authentication solutions.
Note that this feature is not available in SafeNet Authentication Service Cloud Edition version 3.4, and is planned for the next feature release.

We’d like to inform you that SAS PEAP Agent version 8.2.6 is now available for download from the SafeNet Support Portal (DOW3678). The SAS Agent for PEAP 8.2.6 introduces support for SafeNet Authentication Service (SAS) strong authentication with the Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol (PEAP). SAS Agent for PEAP 8.2.6 is applicable to SafeNet Authentication Service Cloud and SafeNet Authentication Service PCE/SPE 3.3.2.

SafeNet MobilePASS 8.4 for BlackBerry OS 10 Release Update
We would like to advise you that MobilePASS Version 8.4 for BlackBerry 10 is available for download from the SafeNet Support Portal (DOW3675). The MobilePASS 8.4 for BlackBerry OS 10 release enables BlackBerry customers using BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) 10 or 12 to deploy MobilePASS from their mobile device management (MDM) system.
New Features and Enhancements
MobilePASS Version 8.4 for BlackBerry 10 includes the following features:
- BES 10 and BES 12 support: MobilePASS 8.4 for BlackBerry OS 10 can be deployed by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) 10 or 12 to BlackBerry OS 10 devices.
- Improved User Interface: MobilePASS 8.4 for BlackBerry OS 10 improves the user experience with an enhanced user interface.
- Management Platform Support: SafeNet Authentication Service (Cloud) and SafeNet Authentication Manager are supported, offering full featured activation and policy management capabilities.
- Cryptographic Security: BlackBerry FIPS 140-2 Level 1 cryptographic libraries are supported.
- Default Token Name: The MobilePASS default token name for the first token is taken from the user name as configured in SAS. After activation, the default token name includes the user name.
- Time-based security enhancements – countermeasures have been implemented, alerting users to the possibility that their device has been compromised, and that future OTPs have been generated.
- Event-based security enhancements – Event-based tokens can now be configured to support a delay in pre-defined number of seconds before another OTP is generated.

New process for seed file delivery in SPA / SRA and SAMx
Please be advised that in order to improve security of the seed handling for SPA, SRA and SafeWord / SAMx products, Operations have introduced a new process for accessing the Seed Files that are delivered to customers. Customers will now receive a separate password by email which will be used to securely open the seed file.
- For SPA & SafeWord – The password will be sent to the email address that is specified on the PO for password sending (this is required in the PO
- For SAMx/SRA – The password will be sent to the customer's Web portal log in ID email address. This procedure has already been introduced for SafeWord / SAMx and SRA customers and is due to be introduced for SPA customers shortly.
